Speed Assist Connected Horizon

The smart solution for intelligent speed assistants

The growing importance of digitalization and connectivity in our society is leading to new technological possibilities in the automotive sector that are increasingly being taken up by vehicle manufacturers to enhance driving safety, efficiency, comfort, and convenience.

As an enabler for highly automated and assisted driving, the Connected Horizon is one of the key digital technologies here.

Thanks to the smart combination of official standards (e.g., ADASIS V2 or V3 for highly automated driving, HAD) and a layer comprising static and cloud-based map data, it is possible to provide vehicles with a broad range of predictive information through the Connected Horizon. This often involves information relevant to the prevention of accidents or traffic violations but which the driver or vehicle is not able to perceive quickly enough. Examples of this are danger spots on the route and speed limits. What is more, if information from the Connected Horizon is additionally fed into driver assistance systems, it is also possible for vehicles to intervene automatically in critical situations. Accidents can thus be averted with foresight.

Speed Assist Connected Horizon

With the Speed Assist Connected Horizon, we have developed a software and service solution that can be implemented quickly and efficiently based on the Connected Horizon technology to focus solely on provisioning current speed limit information. It furthermore already fulfills legal requirements for information provisioning.

This means that with our Speed Assist Horizon solution we are, for example, also prepared for the new regulation from the European Union concerning the introduction of “Intelligent Speed Assistance” (ISA) and are already helping our customers to achieve compliance with GSR and NCAP requirements in ongoing projects. A major strength of this system is its ability to provide speed limit information for implicit speed limits as well as when traffic signs are dirty or defective.

Further Benefits:

  • Increased safety and convenience for vehicle occupants and road users
  • Extremely accurate thanks to the cloud connection, and highly customizable
  • Independence regarding the choice of operating system, map data provider, and hardware
  • Modular connection and expansion options with regard to connection to driver assistance systems, and the possibility for integration on hardware from the Bosch portfolio
  • Based on recognized standards: ADASIS V2 and V3, NDS, TPEG
